Reports to: Classroom teacher and building principal

Job Goals: To support the classroom teacher in providing a caring and nurturing classroom environment in which the following needs are met: academic, social, and physical. To perform all others duties as assigned by the classroom teacher and building principal.
Essential Functions:
- Under supervision of the classroom teacher and building principal, assist in managing behavior and procedures that are conducive for learning (classroom, halls, restrooms, recess, lunch, etc.).
2. Under supervision of the classroom teacher, assist in planning and directing classroom learning activities.
- Under supervision of the classroom teacher, assist in working with small groups of learners, in order to meet educational needs of students.
- Assist in meeting the physical needs of students (e.g, assisting in meeting the needs of wheel chair or physically disabled students).
- Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, assist in the management and organizational requirements of instruction (running off materials, setting up materials for group work, recording attendance, recording grades, etc.).
- Participate in in-service training programs designed to upgrade knowledge and skills that will assist in meeting the educational, physical, social, or emotional needs of students.
- Have the content skills needed to successfully be able to assist the classroom teacher in meeting the academic needs of students.
- Be able to effectively work with the classroom teacher, parents, and students in order to meet the academic, social, physical, and emotional needs of students.
- And any other duties as deemed necessary by their supervisor.

Educational and/or Experience Requirements: High School diploma.
Physical Demands: The individual must be able to meet the physical demands necessary to meet the educational needs of students. For instance, if a child is disabled and requires certain physical abilities of the instructional assistant (e.g., getting in and out of wheel chair), the instructional assistant must be able to meet the needs of the student.
