Library Assistant (Grades 3-5)
Job Description:
The EIS librarian will empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users and communicators of information. This person will instill a love of learning in all students and ensure equitable access to information. The librarian will become a part of our professional learning community to collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to design and implement lessons and units of instruction, and assess student learning and instructional effectiveness. The successful candidate will provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and the school district, and is an integral component of the learning/instructional program.
Job Requirements:
- Checking books in and out each day
- Shelving books in appropriate place
- Taking care of and replenishing the library’s collection of books on a consistent basis
- Coordinating the Accelerated Reader program
- Coordinating school-wide book fairs one to two times per year
- Planning and implementing lessons/projects for each grade level
Job Qualifications:
- Experience working in a library and/or with students is preferable
- Minimum of two years of college experience
